INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE CREAMED CORN IN THE SLOW COOKER

Frozen Corn – You need 32 ounces total for this recipe. I like to use one bag of yellow corn and one bag of yellow & white corn. Use all white corn, all yellow corn, or a mix like I do.

Butter – I use salted

Cream Cheese – I prefer the flavor and texture of full-fat cream cheese but feel free to substitute with light cream cheese. I would suggest not using fat-free cream cheese in this recipe.

Whole Milk – The higher the fat of milk the better. Whole milk or even 2% milk is best.

Salt & Pepper

Granulated Sugar – Don’t leave this out. Creamed corn is a sweeter corn so you definitely want the sugar in there.

TIPS FOR MAKING SLOW COOKER CREAMED CORN

  • I have tried making this on HIGH heat and it does not work as well. The corn burns because of the higher heat. It’s best to cook this on LOW heat, low and slow is usually the best when it comes to using your crock pot.
  • There will be some liquid in the slow cooker insert after the cooking time. Serve with a slotted spoon so you don’t get all that extra liquid.
  • I prefer to stir the corn about 2-3 times during the cook time. This helps the corn to not burn and it prevents the corn from burning to the sides of the slow cooker.

Slow Cooker Creamed Corn is only 5 simple ingredients. So creamy, easy to make, and way better than the canned stuff. Creamed corn is the perfect side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 32 ounces frozen corn
  • 1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese cubed
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter cubed
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper or more to taste

Instructions

  • Spray the insert of the slow cooker with cooking spray.
  • Add all ingredients into the slow cooker and stir together. Cover with lid and cook on LOW heat for 4-5 hours.
    * Stir the corn about 2-3 times during the cook time to prevent it from burning to the sides of the slow cooker.
  • Serve with a slotted spoon! You can also leave the corn on the WARM setting for 1-2 hours before serving.

Notes

Sugar : If you like your creamed corn a bit sweeter than add 2 tablespoons of sugar.
Corn : I use one bag yellow corn and one bag of yellow & white corn. I like the combination. Feel free to use all yellow corn, all white corn, or a mix like I do. I also use 2 bags (16 ounces each) of frozen corn which equals 32 ounces. Be sure you are not buying the 1-minute microwaveable frozen corn. You just want the regular frozen corn.
Recipe : I originally posted this recipe back in 2015 when I first started this food blog. Since then, I have remade and updated the recipe to reflect the addition of 1/3 cup whole milk. This makes the corn creamier and helps it soften and cook better in the slow cooker.

I’ve made this several times at holidays and everyone likes it. My son in law begs for it.

  2. Can you use canned corn for this? I don’t have frozen on hand so I was wondering.

    1. Together As Family says:

I think that would be fine. It would probably not need to cook as long. I have never used canned corn so I can’t say for sure but I am thinking it would work fine.

  3. Can you make this a fay ahead and rehat next day?

    1. Together as Family says:

Yes, just make sure to stir it well once it’s reheated so the sauce and corn doesn’t separate.
