This easy, delicious, & only 5 ingredient salad comes together quickly and is perfect for a potluck or as a side dish for dinner. Uses salad dressing, bagged coleslaw, and frozen peas so it comes together in a hurry!
I must have a thing for salads. I make a lot of different food and while I taste everything, the dishes that seem to yell at me to eat more of are salads! What?! I mean there's cheesecake w/ raspberry sauce, homemade brownies, Oreo cream pie, and triple peanut butter monster cookies and what do I find myself craving and wanting more of.... this Easy Peasy Slaw Salad and my very favorite ever, Bacon & Mandarin Broccoli Salad.
I guess I love salads. Who would have thought 🙂
Plus, it's only 5 ingredients and basically it tastes incredible.
You can either serve it right away after mixing and the slaw will be crunchy, or you can refrigerate it for 2-4 hours before serving and the slaw will be softer (like coleslaw). If you refrigerate it first, don't add the peanuts until you are ready to serve. I actually preferred it right after mixing it all together.
Make sure that you love the taste of the poppy seed salad dressing you use because the taste really comes through in the salad. A really great quality poppy seed salad dressing will make this salad shine. I like the Briannes brand.
Perfect for a side dish for dinner or even better for a potluck or picnic! If you want to save some calories then use a 'light' poppyseed dressing.
I hope you enjoy this! Thanks for visiting and I'll see you soon.
You can find the bag of coleslaw mix by the bagged salads.
Add more or less dressing depending on desired amount. Same with the peanuts.
To easily thaw the peas without them getting too warm, just set the bag on the counter for 30 minutes to an hour before making the salad
- 1 bag (16 oz) frozen peas, thawed
- 1 bag (14 oz) coleslaw mix
- 1 small bunch green onions, finely chopped (about 4-6 onions)
- 1 cup poppy seed salad dressing
- 1/2-1 cup lightly salted peanuts
- Combine all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
- Either serve right away or refrigerate for 2-4 hours.
- Reserve peanuts, if refrigerating, and mix into the salad right before serving.
