Fun Kid Food: graham cracker traffic lights

My two oldest, 5 and 3, are probably the world’s worst backseat drivers. I think they learn it from me because I like to ‘talk to the others cars’ as in, “Hurry up”, “Do you know what a blinker is?!?” or “Seriously, I will go slower if you get any closer to my bumper” and “It’s green. GO!”

They like to tell me to stop because the light is red, or “go mom go” the second it turns green. My little girl uses the Wii steering wheel controllers to pretend she’s driving. Or, they both will play ‘parking lot’ (as they call it), where they get every single toy car in the house and make a parking lot with them and then drive them around πŸ™‚

Anyways, one day when I was playing their parking lot game with them, these little treats popped into my head. All kids love making something and it’s even better if they can eat it afterwards.

What you need:

graham crackers

peanut butter or other spread (nutella, etc.)

To make:

break the graham crackers into the 4 smaller pieces

spread with peanut butter

use the m&m’s to make the traffic light

** I will add that you should probably buy 2-3 of the checkout stand size m&m’s for these. I only bought one and we only had enough to make the 4 shown in the picture. To be safe, I would recommend buying a few packs so that you have enough of each color **

That’s it! So simple and it literally takes minutes. My kids loved making these and they like to remind me, every time we go somewhere, that they made their own traffic lights πŸ™‚

Have a great day friends!

April 28, 2015 at 5:39 pm What a fun idea! My little guy isn't quite two, but he loves it when we say red light stop during walks and come to an abrupt stop. He would think these were fun! Pinning to remember... maybe we can make them this weekend!
