A soft, totally delicious chocolate chip pretzel muffin with crushed pretzels and topped with a thick, crumbly streusel. These muffins are the perfect salt & sweet combo that you crave!Β {pretzel streusel} CHOCOLATE CHIP PRETZEL MUFFINS | perfect sweet n' salty combo with sweet chocolate + crushed pretzel streusel!

I never knew that chocolate chip pretzel muffins were even a thing. I mean, I love the sweet n’ salty combo in desserts but in a muffin?! Now, after trying one, I am not sure how I ever lived without these all my life.

The recipe makes 12 jumbo muffins piled high with the most delicious sweet pretzel streusel on top. I am impressed that any of that streusel even made it onto these muffins…… me and my little baking assistant loved taste testing it πŸ™‚Β

Just like these 2-Ingredient Banana Bread Cookie Bars, these muffins did not even make it to my husband’s office. We all loved them and my 6 year old is responsible for eating exactly half of them….. he must be going through a growth spurt because he is eating faster than I can make it.Β

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!

Pretzel Streusel Chocolate Chip Pretzel Muffins

For the ground pretzels you'll want to use a food chopper or a food processor. You want it to be like sand. Very fine crumbs. For the crushed pretzels, crush into big and small pieces. Not into fine crumbs.

I had a tiny bit of batter leftover. Your muffin tins will be full.

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup ground pretzels
  • 1/4 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • muffins
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup ground pretzels
  • 2/3 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare a muffin tin (12-cup) with muffin liners or spray with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • For the streusel: in a medium bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, ground pretzels, crushed pretzels and cinnamon. Stir in the melted butter. Mix together until it forms a chunky crumble. Cover and chill the mixture while you make the muffin batter.
  • For the muffins: in a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ground pretzels, chocolate chips, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
  • In a large liquid measuring cup or medium bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, eggs, oil, butter and vanilla. Mix well. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring only until just incorporated (so the muffins are light and fluffy). Let the batter sit for 2-3 minutes.
  • Divide the batter evenly among the 12 muffin cups. Top each muffin with a good amount of streusel.
  • Bake the muffins for 15-18 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean without any wet batter. Let the muffins cool for about 10 minutes in the pan before removing them to a wire rack to cool completely.
