Ingredients
1lbground turkey
1onion, finely chopped
1 1/2teaspoonsground cumin
1 1/2teaspoonsground oregano
1teaspoonsalt
3cupsbeef broth
1can(28 oz) petite diced tomatoes(do not drain)
1can(8 oz) tomato sauce
3cans(15 oz each) white cannelini beans(drained & rinsed)
1tablespoonunsweetened cocoa powder
2teaspoonschili powder
Instructions
In a large soup pot cook & crumble ground turkey, onion, cumin, oregano, and salt over medium-high heat until turkey is no longer pink. Drain if necessary.
Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Once boiling reduce heat to low and let simmer for 30-45 minutes.
Serve with sour cream, shredded cheese, and Fritos corn chips.
Notes
Sometimes the ground turkey is sold in 1.25 lb packages and that's fine. Use all of that if that's all your store has. You can use any onion you want. I normally use a white onion or yellow onion. You could also use a sweet onion if wanted. Just trust me on the cocoa powder. It gives the chili a rich, dark color and flavor. It really is that finishing touch on this chili.
