Equipment

Ingredients

  • 20 Oreos
  • 1 bag (10 oz) Ghiradelli white melting wafers
  • 1/2 cup light pink melting wafers
  • Valentine's Day red & pink sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. I like to use the Reynold's pre-cut parchment sheets, because they fit perfectly in a cookie sheet.
  • Melt white melting wafers according to package instructions. Make sure chocolate is completely melted and very smooth.
    * It's usually microwave at 50% power for 2-3 minutes, stirring after each 30 seconds.
** I use a Pyrex glass measuring cup when I melt the chocolate for this recipe.
  • Working one cookie at a time, dip the Oreo into the melted chocolate, completely covering the cookie. Gently tap off the excess chocolate and place onto the parchment paper. Repeat with remaining cookies.
    * I find it easiest to use a plastic fork, with the two middle prongs broken off, to dip the Oreos.
  • Place the dipped cookies in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set and harden.
    * I just put the whole cookie sheet into the fridge.
  • Melt the pink melting wafers according to package instructions. Pour into a Ziploc bag and snip the bottom corner off.
Pipe the chocolate over the Oreos in a line pattern. Immediately sprinkle with sprinkles while the chocolate is still melted.
Let sit at room temperature for the chocolate to harden OR you can return the cookie sheet back to the fridge for several minutes.
  • Store decorated cookies in the fridge until ready to serve. Cookies will soften slightly as they sit out at room temperature.

Notes

Tip : After decorating and dipping, there will probably be some extra chocolate pieces on the bottom and sides of the cookie. Once the cookie has been decorated and refrigerated, simply break off those chocolate pieces for a pretty presentation.
White Melting Chocolate : I highly recommend using the Ghiradelli brand of white melting chocolate wafers. You will find them at most grocery stores in the baking aisle. It is a blue bag. If you can't find these then use the Wilton white melting wafers. These can be found in the cake decorating aisle at Walmart.
Pink Melting Wafers : These are from the Wilton brand. They are little discs of melting chocolate in the color light pink. If you can't find these, buy some additional white melting wafers and add 1-2 drops of red food coloring. Stir until the chocolate is light pink in color. Adding more or less red food dye drops as needed.
Oreos : I love using regular Oreos in this recipe. You can also use Golden Oreos or the Dark Chocolate Oreos. Feel free to use Oreo thins if wanted or double-stuffed Oreos.
Holidays : Switch out the chocolate drizzle color and sprinkles to match any Holiday.
