Instant Pot White Rice

Learn how to make white rice in the Instant Pot with my easy step-by-step tutorial, along with lots of tips! Instant Pot White Rice is an easy side dish that goes with so many things. Long grain rice, water, and salt is all you need to make perfectly soft & fluffy white rice every time.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups long grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Put rice into a fine mesh strainer, or rice colander, and rinse it under cold water for 1-2 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
  • Place the rice, water, and salt inside the Instant Pot. Stir.
  • Lock lid in place and turn the vent to the 'sealed' position. Set to high pressure and do a manual cook time of 4 minutes.
  • Once done, allow a 10 minute natural release (meaning don't touch anything just let it sit there).
  • Move the valve to the 'venting' position to release any remaining pressure. Remove the lid and use a fork to fluff the rice.

Notes

Rinsing Rice : Don't skip this! You will be surprised by how cloudy the water is as it runs through the rice. Let the cold water pour over the rice for 1-2 minutes, or until the water runs clear.

Serving Size : I have done the nutrition facts to 6 servings, with each serving equal to about 2/3 cup of cooked white rice. Obviously, if you want larger servings (like 1 cup) then you will get a serving size of 4. But you can also serve more people if they take closer to 1/2 cup of rice (8 servings).
