Using a fork, poke each potato 6-8 times to vent the potato while it cooks.
Brush the oil on the outside skin of each potato.* Use a brush for this your your hands
Sprinkle salt and press it into each potato.
Place the potatoes into the air fryer basket. Cook at 400° F for 30 minutes. Flip the potatoes over and cook for 10-15 minutes, depending on the size of potatoes used. *Potatoes are done when you can very easily pierce it with a fork. If there is any resistance, then they need to cook longer.
Remove potatoes from the air fryer. Use a sharp knife to cut a slice down the center of each potato (lengthwise) and then use your fingers to gently push and fluff the potato. Add toppings that melt first like butter and shredded cheese. Then you can load up with any potato toppings you want. The classics are sour cream, bacon bits, shredded cheddar cheese, and green onions. But there are lots of other options like chili + cheese, taco style, roasted vegetables, or my personal favorite topping of cottage cheese.

Russet Potatoes : I highly recommend using russet potatoes when making baked potatoes. Sometimes they are also referred to as 'baking potatoes'.
