Ingredients

  • 1 container (48 ounces) lime sherbet
  • 2 liter bottle Sprite
  • maraschino cherries (stems on or off)
  • red & green sprinkles

Instructions

  • Mix the sprinkles together and pour them onto a flat plate or shallow bowl.
Wet the rim of the glass cup slightly with water and press it into the sprinkle mix, carefully ensuring all edges are covered in sprinkles.
Repeat for your desired amount of drinks.
    * For the water, I just use the same flat plate and add some water to it. Dip the rim in the water and then dip it into the sprinkles. You don't want too much water or else the sprinkles color will just run down the glass. Just a little bit is all it takes!

  • Scoop the frozen lime sherbet into the glass pitcher or punch bowl. Slowly pour the Sprite soda over the lime sherbet.
    * I like to let it sit for a few minutes so the punch can get frothy and the sprite and sherbet can mix slightly.

  • Immediately serve the punch by pouring it into the prepared rimmed glasses and top each drink with a maraschino cherry (stem on or stem off is fine).

Notes

Serving Size : This punch makes enough for 15 (1 cup each) servings. Rim as many of the glasses as you need for the amount you're serving.
#1 Tip : Make sure the Sprite is chilled before making this punch. The punch will last longer inside the punch bowl, it will stay colder, and the carbonation will help keep the punch frothy with the sherbet.
Substitution Ideas -
  • Sprite : Use any lemon-lime soda you want. 7up, Sprite, Sierra Mist, store brand, whatever works here! Feel free to also use Sprite Zero instead if regular Sprite.
  • Sherbet : Switch up the color of sherbet to match any event or gathering. If making a grinch themed punch then obviously you will only want to use the green lime sherbet.
  • Red Topping : I like maraschino cherries because they had a little something (flavor-wise to the punch) and they look really pretty. They are optional and you can easily use another red item like a red heart shaped sprinkle on top of each drink.
  • Sprinkles : Again, switch up the sprinkles for any event or gathering. Or, omit the sprinkled glass rim entirely. Although I don't recommend that because it's the funnest and best part about this ring punch! Kids love it.
  • Event Adaptions : For a baby shower or Valentine's Day it's fun to use pink sherbet + cherry 7up. For a St. Patrick's Day thing or rainbow party try using rainbow sherbet with Sprite. For Halloween use orange sherbet + Sprite or Orange Fanta.
Recipe Tips -
  • Chilled Sprite : Because we are not adding ice to this punch, and instead just the frozen lime sherbet, it's important that you chill the Sprite in the fridge for at least 24 hours before using in the punch. The punch is much better when it's ice cold. So frozen sherbet + cold Sprite is the way to go. The cold Sprite will also help the punch last longer (the fizz when it's mixed in with the sherbet).
  • Adapt For Any Holiday : Simply switch out the sherbet color/flavor to match any holiday or event that you're making it for. You can also switch out the sprinkles around the rims too.
  • Serve Immediately : This is not a recipe that you can make and then let it sit for a couple hours before serving it. Make this grinch punch right before serving! It will be fine for an hour or so once it's made. For example, if you made it for a party then it should do just fine sitting out for a bit. But make sure that you prepare the drink right before you will be serving it.
