Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage (mild, hot, or sweet)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 jar (24 oz) Italian sausage pasta sauce (or any variety)
  • 1 jar (24 oz) alfredo sauce (traditional or any variety)
  • 1 box (1 lb) pasta of your choice (I use thin spaghetti)

Instructions

  • In a skillet, over medium-high heat, brown and crumble the ground Italian sausage. About halfway through, add the salt, dried basil, and garlic powder. Continue cooking until no longer pink. Drain.
  • Add the pasta sauce and alfredo sauce into the ground sausage and stir together. Turn heat down to medium-low and let simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes.
  • While sauce is simmering cook your pasta of choice according to package instructions.
  • Serve over pasta noodles and garnish with parmesan cheese.

Notes

This sauce can easily be changed and adapted to what you prefer. Add some finely diced onion in with the ground sausage or use fresh garlic instead.

I prefer to use the sweet Italian sausage or the mild sausage.

Italian sausage is already pre-seasoned so you'll need to add some additional seasonings if you use a different ground meat, like ground beef or ground turkey.
