Ingredients

Funfetti Cake Mix Donuts

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) funfetti cake mix
  • 3/4 cup half & half
  • 1/3 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Vanilla Glaze

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup half & half
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 6-cavity donut pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the dry cake mix, half and half, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir together until combined and no lumps remain.
  • Use a piping bag or a Ziploc bag (with the tip/corner cut off) OR you can use a spoon, and fill each donut cavity 2/3 of the way full with batter.
Don't overfill. Each one should be just a little over halfway full.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the donuts are golden brown.
Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, and then remove them to a cooling rack to cool completely before glazing.
  • GLAZE : Stir together the powdered sugar, half and half, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Working one donut at a time, dunk the top into the glaze to cover the donut. Place it back on the cooling rack and immediately add sprinkles on top of the glaze.
It helps to place parchment paper or tin foil underneath the cooling rack so clean-up is easier.
  • Let the glazed donuts sit for about 30 minutes for the glaze to harden.

Notes

Leftovers : Store leftovers in an air-tight covered container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Leftovers reheat well in the microwave to warm them up and give them that fresh taste.
Filling Donut Cavity : Place the donut batter into a gallon sized Ziploc bag and snip off the corner. Or you can use a piping bag (with no tip) and snip off the corner. You can also just use a spoon to spoon the batter in. For the pretty donut with the even and round shape, use a piping bag or Ziploc bag.
Cake Mix : Use any cake mix you want! Chocolate cake mix for chocolate donuts. Strawberry cake mix for strawberry cake donuts, etc.
