Ingredients

  • 1 box (18.4 oz) Family Size Milk Chocolate Brownie Mix (plus ingredients called for to make brownies)
  • 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • 3/4 cup Nutella

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 350° F. Prepare a 9x13 baking dish by spraying with cooking spray or lining with parchment paper.
  • Follow the directions on the box of brownie mix to prepare the brownie mix.
  • Stir in chopped hazelnuts.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread in an even layer.
  • Microwave the Nutella for 30 seconds in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Spoon the Nutella over the top of the brownies. Using a knife, swirl the Nutella around. Don't stick the knife all the way to the bottom of the pan, keep it shallow while swirling.
  • Bake for 25-35 minutes or until the brownies are set.
  • Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a cooling rack.

Notes

Family Size Brownie Mix : Some of the brands say 'family size' on the box and others don't. Make sure that you use a brownie mix that is made in a 9x13 baking dish. That's what the family-size means.
TIP : I like to use the pre-cut parchment sheets and lay that inside the baking dish. Spray the baking pan with cooking spray to help the parchment paper stick. Lay the parchment paper vertically in the pan. This also makes cutting brownies easier because you can pull them out with the parchment paper overhang and cut them nicely out of the pan.
Hazelnuts : If you can't find them try these ideas. Chopped cashews, chopped almonds, and chopped macadamia nuts are all great substitutes. I prefer the macadamia nuts. It's easier to find a container of mixed nuts that has hazelnuts in it at the grocery stores. You can either use the mix of nuts or pick out the hazelnuts and chop them up. You can also not use any nuts and instead add some milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, semi-sweet, or mini chocolate chips.
