1lblean ground turkey
1smallonion, finely chopped
1green pepper, finely chopped
1can(8 oz) tomato sauce
Hamburger buns or Rolls
In a large skillet pan, over medium-high heat, cook ground turkey, onion, green pepper, and salt. Cook and crumble ground turkey until cooked through and no longer pink. Drain.
Stir in tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, and seasonings. Reduce heat to medium and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
Serve with hamburger buns or rolls of choice. You can also serve with a slice of cheese and/or toast the hamburger buns as well. We love putting potato chips in our sloppy joes.
I prefer to use a sweeter BBQ sauce like a brown sugar or honey BBQ sauce. We love Sweet Baby Ray's brand so that is what I always use. Some stores only sell ground turkey in a 1.25 lb package (20 oz) and that is fine to use in this recipe.
