Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)
  • 1 bottle (12 ounces) parmesan garlic sauce (see notes)
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk (2% or whole milk is best)
  • 1 box (16 oz) rotini pasta

Instructions

  • Spray the insert of the crockpot with nonstick cooking spray. Add the chicken, parmesan garlic sauce, parmesan cheese, and cream cheese into the crockpot.
2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 1 bottle (12 ounces) parmesan garlic sauce, 1 cup grated parmesan cheese, 4 ounces cream cheese
  • Fill the empty parmesan garlic sauce bottle with the milk and shake it really good to get the remaining sauce out of it. Pour this over the chicken and other ingredients in the crockpot.
    1/4 cup milk
  • Cover with the lid and cook on LOW heat for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours.
  • Shred the chicken with two forks and stir everything together well.
    * Tip : Use an electric hand mixer to blend and shred the chicken right in the crockpot. This shred the chicken perfectly!
  • Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions (to your preferred preference - al dente pasta or softer).
Drain the pasta in a colander but do not rinse it. Stir the cooked pasta into the parmesan chicken mixture inside the crockpot until well combined.
    * If you find that it's too thick for your liking, simply reserve some of the pasta water and add a little bit at a time until the desired consistency is reached. You can also add some milk or chicken broth instead of the pasta water. You may not use all the pasta and that's fine.
1 box (16 oz) rotini pasta
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce : Buffalo Wild Wings sauce is a 12 ounce bottle. Sweet Baby Ray's brand (the BBQ sauce) makes a 16 ounce bottle of the sauce. I actually prefer using the larger bottle of garlic parmesan sauce in this recipe.
Seasonings : The creamy garlic parmesan sauce has tons of flavor so I never think the recipe needs extra flavor or anything else. If you want to add something, I suggest adding some Italian seasoning, roasted garlic, minced garlic, or garlic powder to amp up the garlic flavor of the dish. You could also make the food spicy by adding some red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
Final Dish Too Thick? : If the recipe is too thick for your liking (after you add the cooked pasta) then I suggest reserving some of the pasta water to mix into it to thin it out how you prefer. You could also use chicken broth to do this instead. Or try using only 3/4 of the box of pasta (about 3 cups dried) instead of the entire 16 ounce box.
Parmesan Cheese : I recommend using a finer grated parmesan cheese instead of the larger shredded pieces that come in the bag. I like to use a plastic container of refrigerated grated parmesan cheese when I make this recipe. It can be found by the bagged cheeses and sliced cheese at the grocery store.
