This delicious dish is loaded with creamy garlic flavor and it’s super easy to prepare because you literally “dump” all the ingredients (not the pasta) into the crockpot and let it cook all day. So easy!

Simple Ingredients For Parmesan Garlic Chicken Pasta (With Buffalo Wild Wings Sauce)

  1. Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts : I recommend trimming the breasts of any fatty pieces or the weird cartridge/vein pieces that can sometimes be on them.
  2. Garlic Parmesan Sauce : This is a bottled sauce and many different brands make it. Sweet Baby Ray’s has a yummy one, Great Value brand, or Buffalo Wild Wings. Some bottles are larger than others (12 ounces to 16 ounces) so just pick your favorite and if you want the pasta extra saucy then use a larger bottle of the parmesan sauce.
  3. Parmesan Cheese : Use the cheaper, shelf-stable parmesan cheese or buy some refrigerated pre-shredded or grated parmesan cheese instead. Freshly shredded parmesan cheese from a wedge will also work well.
  4. Cream Cheese
  5. Whole Milk : The recipe says to pour the milk into the sauce bottle (after you pour the sauce out) and then shake it. This is an important step because it gets all that extra sauce that’s leftover in the bottle, that way you don’t miss any of the flavor! I prefer using whole milk but any milk will work just fine – 1%, 2%, or half and half. I don’t recommend using heavy cream as it’s too thick.
  6. Rotini Pasta : This is the best one to use because of the spiral shape that holds all that creamy sauce in it. If you want to use another pasta then use one of similar size like penne pasta or ziti pasta. But I recommend using the rotini pasta only.

Can I Use Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs Instead?

Yes! Use chicken thighs or chicken breast – whichever you prefer. Chicken thighs tend to not dry out as much in the slow cooker (which is why some prefer using them) but they also have more fat on them so sometimes there can be extra oil/grease in the crockpot while cooking. I have only ever used boneless, skinless chicken breast when making this recipe.

I always recommend trimming either the chicken breasts or chicken thighs before adding them into the slow cooker. Trim off any fatty pieces or weird parts of the chicken like the cartridge or veiny type pieces.

How To Store Leftovers

Let leftovers cool to room temperature and then store them inside an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 3-4 days. Reheat leftovers inside the microwave until heated through.

What Garlic Parmesan Sauce Is Best To Use?

There are several different brands that make this creamy garlic parmesan sauce. It’s a bottled sauce and can be found by the barbecue sauces and other dressings at the grocery store. I like using the Buffalo Wild Wings Brand but any other brand will work great – Great Value or Sweet Baby Ray’s are the other ones Iv’e seen.

If you want a creamier parmesan garlic pasta dish then I suggest using a larger bottle of the parmesan cream sauce (like 16 ounces).

Tips For Making Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta In The Slow Cooker

  • Seasonings : The creamy garlic parmesan sauce has tons of flavor so I never think the recipe needs extra flavor or anything else. If you want to add something, I suggest adding some Italian seasoning, roasted garlic, minced garlic, or garlic powder to amp up the garlic flavor of the dish. You could also make the food spicy by adding some red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
  • Final Dish Too Thick? : If the recipe is too thick for your liking (after you add the cooked pasta) then I suggest reserving some of the pasta water to mix into it to thin it out how you prefer. You could also use chicken broth to do this instead.
  • Parmesan Cheese : I recommend using a finer grated parmesan cheese instead of the larger shredded pieces that come in the bag. I like to use a plastic container of refrigerated grated parmesan cheese when I make this recipe. It can be found by the bagged cheeses and sliced cheese at the grocery store.

Crockpot Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta is an easy chicken pasta recipe that's perfect for those busy weeknights and something the whole family will love! This garlic chicken pasta recipe is a dump & go slow cooker dinner with easy ingredients like garlic parmesan sauce, parmesan cheese, cream cheese, chicken, and pasta.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)
  • 1 bottle (12 ounces) parmesan garlic sauce (see notes)
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk (2% or whole milk is best)
  • 1 box (16 oz) rotini pasta

Instructions

  • Spray the insert of the crockpot with nonstick cooking spray. Add the chicken, parmesan garlic sauce, parmesan cheese, and cream cheese into the crockpot.
2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 1 bottle (12 ounces) parmesan garlic sauce, 1 cup grated parmesan cheese, 4 ounces cream cheese
  • Fill the empty parmesan garlic sauce bottle with the milk and shake it really good to get the remaining sauce out of it. Pour this over the chicken and other ingredients in the crockpot.
    1/4 cup milk
  • Cover with the lid and cook on LOW heat for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours.
  • Shred the chicken with two forks and stir everything together well.
    * Tip : Use an electric hand mixer to blend and shred the chicken right in the crockpot. This shred the chicken perfectly!
  • Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions (to your preferred preference – al dente pasta or softer).
Drain the pasta in a colander but do not rinse it. Stir the cooked pasta into the parmesan chicken mixture inside the crockpot until well combined.
    * If you find that it's too thick for your liking, simply reserve some of the pasta water and add a little bit at a time until the desired consistency is reached. You can also add some milk or chicken broth instead of the pasta water. You may not use all the pasta and that's fine.
1 box (16 oz) rotini pasta
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce : Buffalo Wild Wings sauce is a 12 ounce bottle. Sweet Baby Ray’s brand (the BBQ sauce) makes a 16 ounce bottle of the sauce. I actually prefer using the larger bottle of garlic parmesan sauce in this recipe.
Seasonings : The creamy garlic parmesan sauce has tons of flavor so I never think the recipe needs extra flavor or anything else. If you want to add something, I suggest adding some Italian seasoning, roasted garlic, minced garlic, or garlic powder to amp up the garlic flavor of the dish. You could also make the food spicy by adding some red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
Final Dish Too Thick? : If the recipe is too thick for your liking (after you add the cooked pasta) then I suggest reserving some of the pasta water to mix into it to thin it out how you prefer. You could also use chicken broth to do this instead. Or try using only 3/4 of the box of pasta (about 3 cups dried) instead of the entire 16 ounce box.
Parmesan Cheese : I recommend using a finer grated parmesan cheese instead of the larger shredded pieces that come in the bag. I like to use a plastic container of refrigerated grated parmesan cheese when I make this recipe. It can be found by the bagged cheeses and sliced cheese at the grocery store.
