Ingredients

  • 2 bags (11 oz each) white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • neon green gel food coloring
  • 12 pretzel rods
  • 12 red heart shaped sprinkles

Instructions

  • Prepare a rimmed cookie sheet/baking sheet, or a clean countertop, and line it with parchment paper or wax paper. Set aside.
  • Dump the white chocolate chips inside a microwave-safe bowl along with the coconut oil. Melt for 1 minute and then stir it really well. Heat in additional 20 second increments, as needed, stirring well after each one until it's completely smooth and melted.

  • Once melted, add the green gel food coloring and stir until desired "green grinch" color is achieved.
    * Start with 1 drop and stir well before adding additional drops.

  • Working with one pretzel rod at a time, dip the pretzel rod into the green melted chocolate 3/4 of the way. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off the pretzel rod and back into the bowl of melted chocolate. Place the dipped pretzel onto the parchment paper. Repeat until all the pretzels are coated.
    * It helps to put the melted chocolate into a tall cup or glass jar to make dipping the longer pretzels easier.

  • Scrape the remainder of the green melted chocolate into a piping bag or a small Ziploc bag. Cut the tip of the bag and drizzle the chocolate in a zigzag pattern across the pretzel rods.
  • Carefully place a red heart onto each pretzel rod. Allow the pretzels to dry at room temperature for up to 1 hour or until set.

Notes

  • Make sure to not overcook the white chocolate in the microwave. It's important to microwave in small increments and then stir it really well. As you stir it, the chocolate will continue melting on its own and becoming more smooth. If you overcook the chocolate then it will seize up and you will have to start over.
  • If you can't find the red heart sprinkles then try using red M&M's (mini sized work best) or cut small red paper hearts from red construction paper and place them on. If you are using paper, it's important to not eat it! Remove the heart before eating. Or use red sanding sugar to add some red sprinkles onto one area of the pretzel rods for the heart.
