Candy Corn Pizza is a must-make, cute, and festive halloween treat that everyone will love! A store-bought sugar cookie pizza crust topped with the three iconic colors of candy corn - yellow, orange, and white. So easy to make you won't believe it.
Preheat the oven to 350℉. Lightly spray a 12-inch round pizza pan with cooking spray, or you can line it with parchment paper.
Unwrap the cookie dough and slice the log of cookie dough into 1/4-inch slices . Lay the slices all over around the pizza pan. Use your clean hands to smoosh and press them together to form a smooth, and even layer of 'pizza crust'.
1 roll (16.5 oz) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
Bake the sugar cookie crust for 13-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is cooked through. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire cooling rack.
In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the butter until it is creamy and smooth; about 1-2 minutes.
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
3 cups powdered sugar
Add in the vanilla extract and milk, and beat until the frosting is light and fluffy and well combined.
2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons milk
Set aside 1/2 cup of the frosting for the white section. Then divide the remaining frosting evenly into two bowls.
Add yellow gel food coloring to one bowl and orange to the other. Mixing well until the desired shades are achieved.
yellow and orange gel food coloring
Once the cookie crust is completely cooled, it's time to frost! Start on the outside with the yellow frosting, then add the orange frosting inside, and finish off with the white frost in the center to get that classic candy corn look. *You can use a spoon, knife, or icing spatula to spread out the frosting. For clean lines and a cleaner look, consider placing each colored icing into a piping bag with a large 1A tip (or a large Ziploc bag with the corner snipped).
Cut the candy corn pizza into 12 'pizza slices' and serve. Enjoy!
Notes
Gel Food Coloring : I recommend using gel food colors because they provide a better color and they won't mess with the texture of the frosting because the gel is thicker than the liquid regular food coloring. The ingredient photo shows purple gel food coloring and that is just to whiten up the white frosting if wanted. I never do this because it's very easy to add too much. To ensure you get a white frosting try using clear vanilla extract. I use regular vanilla extract and think it turns out just fine. Tip : Pressing the sugar cookie dough into the pizza pan can get messy! Use a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper to press the cookie dough down evenly, ensuring it doesn't stick to your hands. This will also help create a smoother surface for frosting later.
