Notes
Shredded Chicken : Make sure you are using cooked chicken. Use up leftover chicken from another meal, grab a rotisserie chicken from the store, or you can cook and shred chicken specifically for this recipe (use the slow cooker or boil it on the stove top). I don't recommend using canned chicken, or ready to use prepared chicken packs from the store, as it can be very salty and contain excess water that might dilute the casserole as it cooks. I know Costco sells a package of already shredded rotisserie chicken that would work well in this casserole.
Cream of Chicken Soup : For those traditional chicken cordon bleu flavors I recommend sticking with classic cream of chicken soup. However, if wanted, you could use any variety of condensed creamed soup.
Ham : You can buy chopped ham that is ready to use, use ham slices from the package or deli counter, or cut the slices into smaller pieces if wanted.
Swiss Cheese : Mozzarella or provolone are other options, but Swiss cheese will give you those traditional cordon bleu flavors. I prefer using sliced cheese but you could also use shredded Swiss cheese if wanted.
