Ingredients

  • 1 tube (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough (I use Pillsbury brand)
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (I use sea salt or kosher salt)
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the pizza dough onto a cutting board. Use a knife, or pizza cutter, to cut it into 1-inch wide strips. Transfer the strips to the parchment paper on the sheet pan.
1 tube (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
  • Bake for 10-13 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and salt. Brush it over the warm breadsticks and then immediately sprinkle each breadstick with parmesan cheese.
4 tablespoons salted butter, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Serve warm with warmed marinara sauce (if wanted).

Notes

  • Use a pizza cutter to make cutting the pizza dough into strips really easy.
  • For the best taste and fine texture, I recommend using the shelf-stable, cheaper, grated parmesan cheese. I think it tastes the best, looks the best, and makes the breadsticks more like the real thing.
  • I use salted butter and add just a small pinch of salt to the melted butter mixture. If you are using unsalted butter, you may need to add just a little bit more salt, depending on taste preference and/or dietary needs and restrictions.
  • I use the Pillsbury brand canned refrigerated pizza dough to make and test this recipe. I think it tastes much better compared to store brands.
  • You can make long breadsticks or short breadsticks, depending on what end you start cutting the pizza dough into strips.
