Ingredients

Ground Beef Stir Fry

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup snow peas
  • 1 cup chopped broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (I use 93/7)

Savory Stir Fry Sauce

  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 garlic cloves minced or pressed
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

For Serving

  • cooked white rice
  • thinly sliced green onions
  • white sesame seeds

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the olive oil, snow peas, broccoli, red bell pepper, and onions. Cook until the vegetables are tender to your preference; about 6-10 minutes. Transfer the cooked vegetables to a plate and set aside for later.
1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 cup snow peas, 1 cup chopped broccoli florets, 1 red bell pepper, 1 small onion
  • To the same skillet, with the heat turned up to medium-high, cook and crumble the ground beef into small pieces until no pink remains. Drain or soak up any excess grease from the skillet.
    1 pound lean ground beef
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, cornstarch, garlic cloves, and sesame oil until combined.
1/2 cup beef broth, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 2 garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Pour the sauce into the skillet with the ground beef, and add back in the vegetables that were set aside from earlier. Cook until the sauce thickens and everything is coated in the sauce.
  • Serve over cooked white rice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Notes

Soy Sauce : Because there is no other salt called for in the recipe; I always use full-salted soy sauce when I make this. Of course, reduced-sodium can be used, but you may want to add additional salt if needed.
Beef Broth : I love the Kettle & Fire beef bone broth - it has so much flavor! Use beef broth, beef stock, beef bone broth, or water + beef bouillon if needed.
More Sauce? : If you want extra sauce in the dish for serving, you can either double the sauce or 1.5x the sauce - I recommend doing this because doubling the sauce you will end up with tons of it! My family does not like stir fry super saucey so the recipe as is, is perfect for my family. Enough sauce for the rice and stir fry and still super flavorful without being like super wet.
Nutrition Information : The information listed is for one serving of the ground beef stir-fry mixture with sauce. It does not include the rice or other toppings, as that may vary depending on what you use. Each serving is about a heaping 1/2 cup.
Onion : I prefer a sweet onion but you can also use a yellow onion or white onion.
Tip : My family prefers the vegetables really soft, so I will cover the skillet with a lid and add just touch of water to the skillet and this helps the vegetables steam and cook and soften in the shorter cook time. If you prefer more crisp and textured vegetables, then cook according to the recipe until they are at your preference.
