Ingredients

  • 1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese softened
  • 1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow creme
  • 1 cup dry hot cocoa mix (dry, do not prepare)
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip thawed
  • red & green mini m&m's
  • mini marshmallows and/or marshmallow bits

Instructions

  • In a large bowl using an electric hand mixer, or use the bowl of stand mixer with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese
  • Add in the marshmallow creme and beat until well combined and fluffy.
1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow creme
  • Add in the dry hot cocoa mix, a little bit at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition to ensure it's evenly distributed and dissolves/blends in well.
1 cup dry hot cocoa mix
  • Add the Cool Whip and mix on low speed just until incorporated and the dip is lighter in color, fluffy, and airy. Be careful to not overmix! You want to keep the dip nice and fluffy, so just mix until it's incorporated.
    8 ounces Cool Whip
  • Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving (or up to 4-6 hours).
*If refrigerating for longer than 30 minutes, you'll want to set the dip out at room temperature for about 10 minutes prior to serving, so it can soften slightly. If you prefer a softer, silkier dip then skip the 30 minute refrigeration time.
  • Transfer the hot chocolate dip to a serving bowl. Garnish the dip with some Christmas mini m&m's and mini marshmallows for a fun and festive look.
red & green mini m&m's, mini marshmallows and/or marshmallow bits
  • Serve the hot cocoa dip alongside some dipping options; graham crackers, pretzels, Nilla wafers, cookies, strawberries, apple slices, shortbread cookies, fudge stripe cookies, animal crackers, candy canes, etc.

Notes

The marshmallow creme is also sometimes labeled and referred to as 'marshmallow fluff' - it's all the same thing.
If you don't want to use Cool Whip then add 1.5 cups heavy whipping cream + 1/3 cup powdered sugar into a large bowl. Use an electric hand mixer, or stand mixer, to beat until stiff peaks form. This takes about 5 minutes or so. Start at low speed and increase the speed as needed.
