French Onion Chicken Casserole

French Onion Chicken Casserole recipe is an easy chicken casserole with tons of creamy, cheesy onion flavor and crunch! Simple to make with convenient store-bought ingredients like frozen hash browns, cooked chicken, French onion dip, and cream of chicken soup.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen southern hash browns (thawed)
  • 3 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 tub (16 oz) French onion dip
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt (more or less to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 container (6 oz) crispy fried onions

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉. Spray a 9x13 baking dish or casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside. 
  • In a large bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, shredded chicken, French onion dip, can of cream of chicken soup, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt & pepper. Stir until it's combined well. 
    1 bag (32 oz) frozen southern hash browns, 3 cups cooked shredded chicken, 1 tub (16 oz) French onion dip, 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup, 1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Transfer the chicken mixture into the casserole dish and spread it out evenly. 
  • Sprinkle the crispy fried onions over top. 
    1 container (6 oz) crispy fried onions
  • Cover the pan with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover, and bake an additional 10 minutes. 
  • ​Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can use cooked white rice in place of the hash browns if wanted. You will need about 4 cups of cooked white rice, or any rice you prefer.
TIP : For the best results and softest texture on the hash browns, I recommend thawing the hash browns before making the casserole. You could also use refrigerated shredded hash browns instead of the frozen cubed hash browns if wanted.
