Another dessert…. trust me, this is not turning into a dessert blog. Eventually I will get back to posting dinnertime family favorites. My husband was gone all last week on a business trip so I was flying solo with our 4 kids, 7 years and younger. I literally almost lost my mind?!ย

To keep things as real as possible on this blog, I’ll admit that we ate out basically every single meal, minus breakfast which was froot loops all week long. I won’t even try and pretend that among all the chaos, and it being the first week of summer break , that I actually cooked 3 meals a day for my kids. Nope. Not one bit. I am so glad he’s home now and some of my sanity has returned ๐Ÿ™‚ ย When I get stressed you can always find me in the kitchen baking up something sweet. I wish I were like some of my friends and could take that stress out on the treadmill or something amazing like that!

This easy no bake pie has two layers of creamy chocolate inside a chocolate Oreo pie crust. You could also just use a chocolate graham cracker. It’s only 5 ingredients! Chocolate pudding mixed with milk and Cool Whip, and white chocolate pudding mixed with milk and Cool Whip. It really is so easy!ย

Those cute chocolate curls are probably my favorite part. I had seen this on the Food Network several years ago and never got around to trying it because I was so skeptical. I am here to tell you that it works! Take a vegetable peeler and a Hershey chocolate bar and peel down the sides of the chocolate bar. It makes these cute chocolate curls that really make this pie looks so pretty.

  • 2 cups whole milk, divided
  • 1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip, divided

Instructions

  • If wanted, garnish with chocolate curls.

Notes

To get chocolate curls: take a vegetable peeler and a Hershey chocolate bar, and peel down the sides of the chocolate bar.

If you don't want to use Cool Whip, beat 1 cup heavy whipping cream with 3 tablespoons powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

November 16, 2017 at 2:14 pm Would using 1% milk make that big of a difference? It's what I have at home already. Thanks so much!

November 16, 2017 at 10:47 pm It should not make a big difference. I just prefer the higher fat content because it produces a thicker pudding. But the 1% will work fine.

November 22, 2017 at 4:19 pm Are we actually making the pudding according to the box? Or just mixing the powder with the milk? I know Iโ€™m probably overthinking this...

November 22, 2017 at 5:26 pm Mix the pudding powder with the milk called for in recipe. Ignore the pudding box directions. Hopefully that helps clear things up โ˜บ๏ธ

November 22, 2017 at 9:41 pm How do two boxes of pudding fit into one crust? I usually make chocolate pudding pie with one box and it fills the crust.

November 22, 2017 at 10:03 pm It's definitely a full, thick pie but it still fits. If you're worried, just get 2 pie crusts and divide the pudding mixture between the two. That would work just fine too. I've made it both ways and we like them both.

January 9, 2018 at 1:46 pm I made this for Christmas. Saying it was a hit would be an understatement! I used 1% milk and the pudding was thick enough. I couldn't get it all to fit into the pie pan but whatever was left I popped into a piping bag and added some decorations on top! Making it again today!

November 25, 2018 at 8:56 am I made this to bring to our family Thanksgiving dinner. I chose Hersheyโ€™s White Chocolate Candy Cane Candy Bar for the shredded topping, everyone not only Loved It, but asked if I would make them more! ๐Ÿ’–

June 3, 2019 at 4:36 pm I made the recipe completely as called for and the pie turned out as more like runny pudding pie. What happened? I even used full fat milk. I was rather bummed. The pie did not turn out fluffy and full as in the picture.

June 3, 2019 at 9:09 pm Did you happen to use the cook n' serve pie & pudding filling? That is the only thing I can think of as to why the pie turned out runny.

June 16, 2019 at 11:27 am Sur Roggenbeck... Did you use ONE cup of milk or two? THIS recipe called for only one cup wondering if you made according to the pudding box directions? I almost made the same mistake until I glanced at the recipe again thank goodness ๐Ÿ˜Š ***I wasnโ€™t sure if Iโ€™d like the white chocolate but it reminded me of melted vanilla ice cream...๐Ÿฅฐ
