Christmas Cookie Pizza Recipe
Give me all the festive red & green Christmas recipes! I just love simple recipes like this Christmas Cookie Pizza because my kids love it and it’s something that they can help make and then do all the decorating on their own.Â
Simple to make for all skill levels thanks to the prepared sugar cookie dough and vanilla frosting. Use whatever candy you want to decorate this dessert pizza with. I say the more sprinkles the better 😉.
Ingredients Needed
This recipe starts with only 2 easy ingredients! It’s an easy treat to make because it calls for ready-to-use cookie dough and frosting.Â
- Sugar Cookie Dough : This is the refrigerated sugar cookie dough that comes in a log shape. You’ll find it in the refrigerated section of the grocery store.Â
- Vanilla Frosting : Look for this in the baking aisle alongside the cake mixes. Any form of frosting will work here like whipped vanilla frosting or even cream cheese frosting if wanted.Â
- Decorations : I recommend using Christmas themed red & green sprinkles, crushed peppermint candy canes, and red & green mix m&m’s. But you can use whatever you want!Â

- Preparation : Spray a 12-inch pizza pan/plate with cooking spray. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.Â
- Sugar Cookie Crust : Cut the log of sugar cookie dough into thin slices (about 1/4-inch each) and lay them on the pizza pan. Use your fingers and hands to press and smoosh all the pieces together forming an even layer. Make sure there are no cracks or seams, you want an even layer of cookie dough.Â
- Bake : Cook for 12-15 minutes or until the cookie crust is golden brown. Let it cool completely before frosting and decorating.
- Decorating : Spread the frosting on top of the cooled cookie pizza and decorate with whatever you want! We love using Christmas themed/colored sprinkles, crushed peppermint candy canes, and mini red & green m&m’s. There are lots of options here so get creative!
Christmas Cookie Pizza FAQ’s
-
Can I Use Homemade Frosting & Sugar Cookie Dough Instead of Store-Bought?
- Yes you can. It won’t make this recipe quite as quick & easy but it will work just fine. Just make sure that whatever sugar cookie recipe you make that it’s not too much dough for the pizza pan/plate. Otherwise it will spill over when baking.Â
- The frosting is much easier to replace with this Perfect Vanilla Frosting recipe. Or switch it up and make a Cream Cheese Frosting.Â
-
Variation & Substitution Ideas
- There are lots of ways to switch up this recipe and make it different each time. Here are some ideas!
- Candy : You can use anything you want to decorate this cookie pizza with. I like to stick with the red & green colored stuff like m&m’s and sprinkles. Crushed candy canes are a great option too! You can make it a fruity pizza by using crushed Starburst candy canes and then top it with some Christmas colored Nerds candy. Use regular sized m&m’s or the mini sized ones. Anything goes for this pizza. Another yummy option is a mint pizza with mint m&ms + chopped Andes mints.Â
- Frosting : I like the classic vanilla frosting but there are tons of different options at the store. Cream cheese frosting, confetti frosting, or try using the Holiday frostings that they get around Christmastime that come with sprinkle in the frosting.Â
- Gel Food Coloring : Instead of white frosting try using some gel food coloring to make it green or red. Or switch it up to match any Holiday.Â

How To Store Leftovers
- If you have leftovers store them in an airtight container, at room temperature or the fridge, for up to 5 days.Â
- You can also just cover the pizza pan tightly in plastic wrap and store it that way. Or put the slices of cookie pizza into a Tupperware type container.Â
- I think the leftovers are fabulous cold from the fridge but they’re also good when eaten at room temperature. The cookie part does harden (as well as the candy) when left in the fridge, but after a few minutes out at room temperature it will soften right up.Â
Recipe Tips
Here are a few of my helpful tips so that you can have success recreating this recipe in your own kitchen ♥
- Pizza Pan : I recommend using a pizza pan that has some sides on it. The one I use has about a 1/2-inch side height on it and it works perfectly. This will help give your pizza more of a round traditional pizza shape.Â
- Use a Pizza Cutter : It’s best to use a pizza cutter to cut this pizza into slices. Yes a knife will also work if that’s what you have.Â
- Cool Completely : Don’t try to frost a warm cookie pizza or else the frosting will just melt all over it. Do not frost or decorate until the cookie pizza is completely cooled.Â

Christmas Cookie Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 roll (16.5 oz) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- 1 tub (16 oz) white vanilla frosting
- Christmas sprinkles
- chopped peppermint candy canes
- Christmas mix m&m's
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350° F. Spray a 12-inch pizza pan with cooking spray. * Do not use a pizza pan with the vent holes in the bottom! I have also made this in an 11-inch pizza pan with good results.
- Cut the roll of sugar cookie dough into ¼-inch slices. Lay each slice on the pizza pan and press them evenly into the pizza pan. Be sure to pack each piece into each other, so there are no open areas between the cookie dough pieces.Â
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cookie dough is golden brown. Place on a cooling rack and allow to completely cool before frosting & decorating.
- Spread the vanilla frosting over top of the cooled cookie pizza and decorate!* You can decorate this with anything you want! We love using two different types of Christmas sprinkles, crushed peppermint candy canes, and Christmas mix m&m's. Get creative!
- Slice into 12 slices like you would a pizza and eat! Store leftovers covered in plastic wrap or inside an airtight container, at room temperature, for up to 5 days.
