Roast Beef Sliders Recipe

I love making these delicious sliders for an easy dinner recipe. With simple, ready-to-use ingredients like deli sliced savory roast beef, sliced cheese, and prepared Hawaiian sweet rolls – this roast beef slider recipe comes together in just minutes for a dinner the entire family will love.

Loaded with layers of soft & buttery rolls, tender roast beef, gooey melted cheese, and a buttery parmesan and onion topping.

Ingredients Needed To Make Hot Roast Beef Sliders

  1. Sweet Hawaiian Rolls : These come in a package of 12 slider rolls that are connected. I love using the King’s Hawaiian brand. Keep the rolls intact while baking, you will need to cut the rolls horizontally, but keep the top parts of the rolls intact and the bottom parts of the rolls intact once you cut horizontally to fill them.
  2. Sliced Cheddar Cheese : I prefer using the thin sliced cheddar cheese, but regular slices work great too. You can buy sliced cheese packaged or ask the deli counter for fresh slices of cheddar cheese.
  3. Thinly Sliced Deli Roast Beef : I highly recommend going to the meat deli counter and asking for 3/4 pounds of thinly sliced roast beef. The fresh sliced deli meat makes a huge difference in the taste of the sliders, and it’s not much more expensive than packaged deli meat that you might use for sandwiches.
  4. Butter : Use salted butter that has been melted.
  5. Worcestershire Sauce
  6. Grated Parmesan Cheese : This is the cheap grated parmesan cheese from the shelf-stable can. No need for fresh parmesan cheese from a wedge.
  7. Dried Minced Onion
  8. Garlic Powder

How To Make Cheesy Roast Beef Sliders (Printable Full Recipe Card)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, or casserole pan, with nonstick cooking spray and set aside. You can also line the pan with parchment paper to make it easier to lift the sliders out and cut them for serving (I like to do this).

Slice the attached hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise using a serrated knife, making sure to keep the bottom half and top half pieces intact (don’t separate the rolls, keep it as one piece). Place the bottom half piece in the prepared baking dish.

Layer on half of the cheese slices, followed by the thinly sliced roast beef, then the remaining half of cheese slices, and then top it off with the top half of the hawaiian rolls.

In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, parmesan cheese, dried minced onion, and glare powder. Brush the butter mixture over the tops of the rolls using a pastry brush.

How To Store Leftover Sliders

Leftover roast beef sliders should be stored in a sealed or airtight container, in the refrigerator, for up to 3-4 days.

To reheat, place in an oven-safe dish and cover it. Bake at 35- degrees F for 10-5 minutes, or until thoroughly heated. You can also heat them in the microwave with a damp paper towel over the top of them, to keep them fro drying out. I don’t recommend freezing the easy roast beef sliders.

What Are Some Substitutions I Can Make?

  • Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls : You can also use savory hawaiian butter rolls or you can use slider buns. Just make sure that whatever you are using comes in a package similar to the Hawaiian rolls; rolls that are stuck together, not separated at all, and rolls that you can cut horizontally and end up with a top half piece and bottom half piece.
  • Cheddar Cheese : Other options are provolone cheese, Swiss cheese, muenster cheese (I love using his one!), or Colby jack cheese.
  • Salted Butter : You can use unsalted butter if you prefer or need a lower-sodium option.

Serving Suggestions

I love serving these roast beef sliders with a side of macaroni and cheese and some frozen French fries or potato wedges cooked to the package directions. Try my Chick-Fil-A Mac and Cheese or this Instant Pot Macaroni and Cheese. Or make it really simply and make your favorite box of Mac and cheese according to the package directions.

Recipe FAQs

Can I Double The Recipe?

Yes! If you are doubling the recipe to feed more people then be sure to double all the ingredients. I would also recommend using a baking sheet, or sheet pan, to place the two sets of hawaiian rolls onto it, so there is room to cook both at the same time.

How Do I Cut The Sliders For Serving?

It’s best to use a serrated knife to cut the sliders into the individual slider rolls for serving. I also like to line the baking pan with parchment paper, that way I can lift the sliders out of the pan and place them onto a cutting board, to cut them easily into individual sliders. You can also just use the knife and cut the sliders while they’re inside the baking dish.

Can I Add A Layer Of Mayonnaise, Or Something Else, To The Inside Of The Sandwiches?

Yes, this is a common addition to sliders. You can spread on a layer of mayonnaise, dijon mustard, honey mustard, or creamy horseradish sauce (or a combination of a few of them) on the bottom half of the rolls before layering on the cheese and meat. I would recommend only spreading a thin layer of any condiments so that the sliders don’t become soggy. I prefer cooking the sliders as is, and then for serving, those who want to can add some mayo or mustard, or other toppings. I hate soggy sliders which is why I don’t bake the sliders with any sort of sauce in them.

Can I Add Pickles or Peppers?

Yes you can add pickles or peppers to the dish if wanted. I recommend that you add any pickles or peppers after baking to avoid a soggy sandwich. If you prefer to bake them inside the sliders, then make sure you pat them dry with paper towels before placing them onto the sandwiches for baking.

Roast Beef Sliders are the perfect mix of savory, sweet, buttery, and cheesy all packed into soft Hawaiian rolls. Made with thinly sliced tender roast beef and melty cheese, then baked until golden brown.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 package (12-count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 12 slices cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef
  • 5 tablespoons salted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉. Lightly spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, or casserole pan, with nonstick cooking spray.

Notes

Cooking Tip : If you don’t want the tops of the sliders to be crisper and really golden brown, I suggest loosely covering the baking dish with foil for the baking time, and then removing the foil for the last 10 minutes or so, so the tops can get golden brown.
Roast Beef : I strongly recommend going to the meat deli counter and asking for 3/4 pound roast beef thinly sliced. You can always use the pre-package roast beef sandwich meat but I promise you that getting it freshly sliced from the deli makes these sliders taste so much better.
Cheese : Any sliced cheese works great in this recipe! Cheddar cheese is classic, but other good options are Colby jack, provolone, muenster, havarti, or Swiss.
