Little Caesars Crazy Bread Recipe

I love homemade breadsticks as much as anyone – but sometimes you just want something that is so simple and easy, but yet still tastes like the real thing. Which is why these copycat Little Caesars Crazy Bread are one of my favorite copycat recipes ever!

No rise time, no letting yeast dissolve, and no spending a ton of time worrying if the dough will rise. Instead, make this easy 5 ingredients recipe and you will end up with pillowy breadsticks that are coated in butter, garlic, and parmesan cheese – and taste exactly like take-out.

The fluffy breadstick base is just a refrigerated canned pizza dough that gets cut into strips. Bake those up until golden brown and then brush melted butter and garlic over top, and finish off with a generous sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

The best part is that you can eat them fresh, warm straight from the oven.

Only 5 Simple Ingredients Needed

  1. Refrigerated Canned Pizza Dough : This is the refrigerated canned dough; I use the Pillsbury brand but store brands can work just as well if wanted.
  2. Butter : Salted butter or unsalted butter can be used.
  3. Garlic Powder
  4. Salt
  5. Grated Parmesan Cheese : This the more inexpensive, shelf-stable grated parmesan cheese not freshly shredded parmesan cheese.

How To Make Copycat Little Caesar’s Crazy Bread

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Unroll the pizza dough onto a cutting board. Use a knife to cut it into 1-inch wide strips. Transfer the strips to the parchment paper on the sheet pan.

Bake for 10-13 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and salt. Brush it over the warm breadsticks and then immediately sprinkle each breadstick with parmesan cheese.

Serve warm with warmed marinara sauce (if wanted).

How To Store Leftover Crazy Bread

Leftover breadsticks should be kept in a large, airtight Ziplock bag, or airtight container, in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.

To reheat, place the breadsticks in the oven at 325 degrees F for 5-10 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, you can use the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 3-5 minutes.

You can freeze crazy bread in an airtight Ziplock freezer bag for up to 3 months. Make sure you remove as much air as possible. Thaw them on the counter for 2-3 hours or in the refrigerator overnight, then reheat.

Substitutions & Ingredient Notes

  • Pizza Dough : I actually prefer these breadsticks using the shortcut, store-bought canned pizza dough. I think they taste more authentic to Little Caesars version. However, if you prefer, feel free to use your favorite homemade dough instead. But again, this recipe is so easy, I definitely would not recommend making it harder on yourself😉
  • Adding Dried Herbs : If you’d like to add some dried herbs in with the butter mixture, go ahead. They won’t be exactly like traditional crazy bread, but I am sure it’ll still be really yummy. Seasonings such as basil, parsley flakes, or Italian seasoning or options.
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese : For the best texture and flavor, I recommend using the cheaper, shelf-stable grated parmesan cheese. It adds a saltiness and the finer texture just tastes better on the bread sticks. You could substitute with freshly grated parmesan cheese. Other options include asiago cheese or Romano cheese; either fresh grated or shelf-stable store-bought.

Serving Suggestions

There are many ways to enjoy crazy bread. It makes a delicious treat or snack with warm marinara sauce or Alfredo sauce. It also works well as a side dish, not only for pizza or your favorite pasta dishes, but also soups. Additionally, you can cut them into bite-sized pieces and serve them as party food.

Pro Tips From The Test Kitchen

  • Use a pizza cutter to make cutting the pizza dough into strips really easy.
  • For the best taste and fine texture, I recommend using the shelf-stable, cheaper, grated parmesan cheese. I think it tastes the best, looks the best, and makes the breadsticks more like the real thing.
  • I use salted butter and add just a small pinch of salt to the melted butter mixture. If you are using unsalted butter, you may need to add just a little bit more salt, depending on taste preference and/or dietary needs and restrictions.
  • I use the Pillsbury brand canned refrigerated pizza dough to make and test this recipe. I think it tastes much better compared to store brands.
  • You can make long breadsticks or short breadsticks, depending on what end you start cutting the pizza dough into strips.
