These festive Lofthouse Sugar Cookie truffles are perfect for Christmastime with their green candy melt exterior and festive red and green sprinkles on top.

It’s an easy Christmas recipe that even the kids can get involved with. Whole frosted sugar cookies combine with cream cheese to form the cake pop or cookie truffle, and then they’re dipped in chocolate.

These cute and yummy treats make for a great addition to any Christmas cookie plate or Santa’s goody plate.

Only 5 Ingredients Needed

  1. Christmas Frosted Lofthouse Cookies : These are easily found at most stores in the bakery section of the grocery store. They come in a plastic package and they’re sugar cookies with festive holiday frosting on (usually green for Christmastime) and then sprinkles.
  2. Cream Cheese
  3. Dipping Chocolate : Use candy melts, white almond bark, or white chocolate melting wafers. I prefer using the Ghiradelli brand of white chocolate melting wafers. Do not use chocolate chips as they seize up and don’t melt as smoothly as the dipping chocolates do.
  4. Coconut Oil : This helps thin out the chocolate, makes it shiny, and makes it more ‘dippable’ when dipping the cookie truffles into the chocolate.
  5. Christmas Sprinkles

Place the cookies into the bowl of a stand mixer using the paddle attachment, or use a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer, and mix on medium speed until the cookies are in fine crumbs.

Add in the cream cheese and mix until a smooth paste is formed. It’s ok to mix for close to 1 minutes or more, because we want the mixture to be smooth.

Use a medium cookie scoop, or about 1.5 tablespoons of the dough, to scoop it out and then roll it into a ball with your clean hands. Place the cookie truffle balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper.

Place the cookie truffles in the fridge for 10 minutes.

While in the fridge, melt the chocolate according to the package directions along with the coconut oil. Be sure and only melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30-second increments, stir well after each one, and then continue melting until it’s completely smooth.

Dip the truffles into the chocolate using a plastic fork with the center prong removed (my preferred way). Tap the fork on the edges to let the excess chocolate drain and drip off the truffle before placing it back onto the parchment paper baking sheet. If needed, I like to use a toothpick to help nudge the truffle off of the fork.

Immediately add sprinkles over top. Continue on with the remaining truffle balls.

Allow the truffles to set and harden at room temperature for 10-15 minutes. Enjoy!

  • Sprinkles : Use any sprinkles to coordinate with any holiday!
  • Melting Chocolate : Candy melts come in all different colors so use a coordinating color, or two different ones, to dip the truffle balls into. You can also just use white chocolate and chocolate melting wafers.

Tips & Tricks For Making Truffles Look Professional

  • Make sure the dough is mixed well until it’s a smooth paste with no lumps in it. This may take 1-2 minutes of mix time to achieve this. You want it to look nice and fluffy, and smooth.
  • Work the dough in your hand before rolling it into a ball to get out any lumps and to help it roll into a smooth ball.
  • Roll the ball into a circle shape in your hand by rolling it in all different directions between your two palms.
  • Don’t skip the refrigeration part because the dough will stick to the fork while dipping it if the fridge time is skipped.
  • Use a plastic fork with the middle prong removed to dip the truffles into the chocolate. Tap the fork against the side of the cup or jar (with the melted chocolate in it) to let the excess chocolate drip off of the truffle ball.
  • Using a toothpick to help nudge the truffle off of the fork is an easy way to get it placed back onto the parchment paper.
  • For the smoothest melt and texture, I recommend using the green candy melts. White melting wafers can also be used (Ghiradelli brand) if you don’t want color. These can be found in the baking aisle or in the cake decorating aisle at the store.
