Grinch Punch Recipe
Oh do I have a fun one for you today! This grinch punch is not only cute and so festive, but it couldn’t be easier to make!
Sprite + lime sherbet are the base of this green grinch-inspired punch, topped with a red maraschino cherry, and the best part is that the rim of the glass is lined with red & green sprinkles. Easier to do than it looks and everyone will love it!Â
Read below for all my tips and learn how to make this punch yourself. I love making this punch and a few other Grinch inspired snacks to munch on as my family watches the iconic movie.Â
Ingredients Needed
- Lime Sherbet – This is what gives the punch it’s pretty pale green color.Â
- Sprite – Carbonation helps the sherbet foam up and it is colorless which helps the green sherbet color shine.Â
- Maraschino Cherries – The red topping for our Grinch theme. The maraschino cherries add a nice little flavor touch to the punch and they look pretty! Use them with the stems on or off. The cherries are for garnish, so be sure and top each cup off with one.Â
- Red & Green Sprinkles – The sprinkles are used to line the rim of each glass. I love the flavor, texture, and look it adds to this punch when serving. Be sure and use the small, non-pareils sprinkles for this recipe. They adhere better to the rim than the larger sprinkles.Â
How To Make Green Grinch Punch with Sherbet
Learn how to make this grinch inspired punch recipe with the easy steps below.Â
-
Sprinkle Rimmed Glasses
- Mix red & green sprinkles together on a flat plate or shallow bowl. Grab another plate or shallow bowl and fill it with just a little bit of water.Â
- Take one glass at a time and dip the rim in the water (shake off any excess) and then dip it into the sprinkle mix until all the edges are covered.Â
- Repeat with remaining glasses.
-
Make the Grinch Punch
- Scoop the lime sherbet into a punch bowl or large glass pitcher.Â
- Slowly pour the cold Sprite over the sherbet.
- Let it sit for just a few minutes so the punch can mix together and get frothy.Â
- Pour some punch into the glass cups and top each one with a maraschino cherry! Stem on or off is fine.Â
Does Leftover Grinch Punch Store Well?
Because the Sprite and sherbet will separate if stored as leftovers, I don’t recommend keeping any leftovers of this grinch punch. It will also lose carbonation fairly quickly which makes the leftover punch not taste as good.Â
But of course, if you want to keep the leftovers then store in it in a pitcher, inside the fridge, for up to 24-48 hours. For best taste I highly recommend serving it immediately and only making what you’ll need for serving.Â
Substitution Ideas
-
There are a few ways you can change up this punch if wanted. Here are some substitution ideas that will work out great.
- Sprite : Use any lemon-lime soda you want. 7up, Sprite, Sierra Mist, store brand, whatever works here! Feel free to also use Sprite Zero instead if regular Sprite.Â
- Sherbet : Switch up the color of sherbet to match any event or gathering. If making a grinch themed punch then obviously you will only want to use the green lime sherbet.Â
- Red Topping : I like maraschino cherries because they had a little something (flavor-wise to the punch) and they look really pretty. They are optional and you can easily use another red item like a red heart shaped sprinkle on top of each drink.Â
- Sprinkles : Again, switch up the sprinkles for any event or gathering. Or, omit the sprinkled glass rim entirely. Although I don’t recommend that because it’s the funnest and best part about this ring punch! Kids love it.Â
- Event Adaptions : For a baby shower or Valentine’s Day it’s fun to use pink sherbet + cherry 7up. For a St. Patrick’s Day thing or rainbow party try using rainbow sherbet with Sprite. For Halloween use orange sherbet + Sprite or Orange Fanta.Â
Recipe Tips
Here are a few of my helpful tips so that you can have success recreating this grinch punch recipe in your own kitchen ♥
- Chilled Sprite : Because we are not adding ice to this punch, and instead just the frozen lime sherbet, it’s important that you chill the Sprite in the fridge for at least 24 hours before using in the punch. The punch is much better when it’s ice cold. So frozen sherbet + cold Sprite is the way to go. The cold Sprite will also help the punch last longer (the fizz when it’s mixed in with the sherbet).Â
- Adapt For Any Holiday : Simply switch out the sherbet color/flavor to match any holiday or event that you’re making it for. You can also switch out the sprinkles around the rims too.Â
- Serve Immediately : This is not a recipe that you can make and then let it sit for a couple hours before serving it. Make this grinch punch right before serving! It will be fine for an hour or so once it’s made. For example, if you made it for a party then it should do just fine sitting out for a bit. But make sure that you prepare the drink right before you will be serving it.Â

Grinch Punch
Ingredients
- 1 container (48 ounces) lime sherbet
- 2 liter bottle Sprite
- maraschino cherries (stems on or off)
- red & green sprinkles
Instructions
- Mix the sprinkles together and pour them onto a flat plate or shallow bowl. Wet the rim of the glass cup slightly with water and press it into the sprinkle mix, carefully ensuring all edges are covered in sprinkles. Repeat for your desired amount of drinks. * For the water, I just use the same flat plate and add some water to it. Dip the rim in the water and then dip it into the sprinkles. You don't want too much water or else the sprinkles color will just run down the glass. Just a little bit is all it takes!
- Scoop the frozen lime sherbet into the glass pitcher or punch bowl. Slowly pour the Sprite soda over the lime sherbet. * I like to let it sit for a few minutes so the punch can get frothy and the sprite and sherbet can mix slightly.
- Immediately serve the punch by pouring it into the prepared rimmed glasses and top each drink with a maraschino cherry (stem on or stem off is fine).
