Rolo Pretzel Turtles only need 3 ingredients and they're the perfect Christmas treat! Salty and crunchy pretzels are topped with a caramel chocolate Rolo candy, and then a pecan half to replicate the classic turtle dessert flavor with chocolate + caramel + pecans.

For another variation (without the nuts) be sure and try my Christmas Rolo Pretzels. And if you want another turtle dessert make this Caramel Chocolate Turtle Dump Cake.

    Rolo Pretzel Turtles Recipe

These pretzel turtles are one of the easiest treats you'll ever make! Only 3 ingredients and a few minutes of prep time is all you need to make them at home. The hardest part is waiting for the chocolate to set and cool!

These pretzel turtle bites are sweet & salty perfection with the crunchy and salty pretzel as the base, a soft caramel chocolate candy in the middle, and then a pecan on top.

    Ingredients Needed

    • Square Pretzels - These are called 'snaps' on the bag and they are just a square shaped pretzel with a criss-cross type pattern. If you can't find them, then try using regular pretzel twists instead. I like using the squares pretzels whenever I make these because they hold the soft chocolate in them much better.
    • Rolo - Make sure you are using the regular sized Rolo candy that are individually wrapped in the gold foil.
    • Pecan Halves - Using a whole pecan half makes these look so pretty. If you can't find the halves then chopped pecans will also work just fine. Sprinkle them on top of the soft chocolate and you may have to press them in gently.

    How To Make Pretzel Turtles

Learn how to make this easy treat recipe with a few easy-to-follow steps. Make sure to read to the bottom of the post where there is a detailed recipe card with all my tips, a pin it button so you can save it for later, and a printable recipe option.

    • Preparation

      • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Unwrap all the Rolo candies and set them aside in a small bowl.
    • Making Pretzel Turtles

      • Place the square pretzels in rows, equal distance apart, on the cookie sheet. Next, place a Rolo in the center of each pretzel.
      • Carefully move the cookie sheet to the oven and cook for 2-3 minutes.
      • Remove the pan from the oven and immediately, and very gently, press one pecan half onto the center of each Rolo candy. Don't press too hard because the chocolate will be soft and if you press too firmly then it could flood over the sides of the pretzel.
    • Let The Chocolate Set

      • Let the pretzel turtles set for 1 hour, at room temperature, on the cookie sheet.
      • They are now ready to eat, serve on your favorite platter, or put them inside a decorative jar to share as a gift for friends.

How To Store Rolo Pretzel Turtles

Store these pretzel turtles in an airtight container, at room temperature, for up to 1 week.

    Can I Make Substitutions?

    • Yes! There are a few ways to change up this recipe. Here are some helpful ideas.
      • Nut Allergy : Instead of the pecan half try using an m&m (any variety), mini marshmallows, or just simply leave off the pecan.
      • Pretzel : If you can't find the square snap pretzels then try using the regular miniature pretzel twists instead.
      • Double The Recipe : The beauty of this recipe is that you can make as much, or as little, of these delicious treats as you want! A cookie sheet will fit much more than 48 of these so add as many pretzels as you like to the cookie sheet. Just make sure that you have enough Rolo candies and pecan halves to top them all with.

    Recipe Tips

Here are a few of my helpful tips so that you can have success recreating this recipe in your own kitchen ♥

    • Bake Time : The bake time listed in the recipe is 2-3 minutes. You will know the Rolo candies are soft enough when they look slightly shiny. You should not be taking out the pan with the Rolo candy part already melted out of its normal shape. That means you probably left it in there too long.
    • Square Pretzels : I highly recommend using the square shaped pretzels (labeled as 'snaps' on the bag) because they hold up the soft chocolate better than the regular pretzel twists.
    • Tip : Make sure that you have the pecan halves in a bowl and ready to go immediately after you pull the pan out of the oven. You want to make sure that you gently press the pecan onto each Rolo while they're warm and very soft.
