Cream Cheese Garlic Alfredo Sauce

Creamy, Smooth, cheesy, and full of flavor. This EASY alfredo sauce will quickly become a family favorite!

I have a top 5 of go-to dinners. You know, things that I make for my own family at least once a month. One of those is this Creamy Beef Noodle Bake. And then this, Cream Cheese Garlic Alfredo Sauce, my friends, has made it to that list. I have made this 3 times since finding it on the blog High Heels & Grills ! (Seriously, mega cute and fun blog. Go check it out!) There has not been a single time that I have made it that my kids (yes, all 3 of them!) have not had double helpings.

Ironically, all the recipes on my top 5 list, are ones that my kids will eat with no hesitation, no whining, no questions about how many bites. As a mom, those recipes are gold. I will be sharing another tried & true family recipe tomorrow. Don’t miss it!

This Alfredo sauce is only 6 ingredients, + salt & pepper. And, no chopping required. Which makes me very happy 🙂 Easy recipes, to me, are the ones where you just dump, stir, and cook. Pulling out a cutting board and chopping and dicing, in my opinion is not an “easy” recipe. I promise, this is easy. Melt some butter, add a block of cream of cheese (it’s much easier to melt and whisk smooth if you chunk the cream cheese first) and some garlic powder, then stir in some cream, chicken broth, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. So easy but the payoff is huge.

The recipe states 1-2 teaspoons garlic powder. Add whatever amount you prefer. I usually do 1 1/2 teaspoons. I have never tried this with the 1/3 less fat cream cheese, but I am sure it would work. It would not be as thick and creamy and smooth, but you would “health-ify” it a bit. I know this recipe is not low-calorie, but I have found that Alfredo Sauce is one of those things that will never, and should never, be low-calorie 😉 Serve this over some hot, cooked pasta (rinse after cooking & salt the water) and serve with a green salad and some bread sticks (you know, to soak up the leftover Alfredo sauce). An easy & delicious family dinner that everyone will love.

Cream Cheese Garlic Alfredo


  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter {I use salted}
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, cut into chunks
  • 1-2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 8 oz freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper


  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Once melted, add in the chunked cream cheese and garlic powder. Stir with a whisk until smooth and mixed together. This will take a couple of minutes.
  3. Add the whipping cream a little bit at a time, while whisking constantly. Add the chicken broth and whisk until very smooth and no lumps.
  4. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil, while whisking constantly.
  5. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes. Sauce will thicken slightly.
  6. Serve over cooked pasta.


Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese from a wedge, that you shred yourself. It is a million times better in this recipe. If you use the pre-shredded packaged Parmesan cheese your sauce will turn out grainy. For best flavor, shred your own from a wedge 🙂
