Snickers Apple Salad Recipe

If you’re looking for a green salad full of all the veggies then you might be in the wrong place 😊 But seriously, this Snickers apple salad may seem odd but if you’ve never had it then you are in for a real treat. Literally!

The textures are out of this world with the tangy crisp bites of apple, the sweet caramel nougat Snickers chunks, and then the creamy pudding whipped cream mixture that covers it all. It’s sweet, fluffy, soft, salty, and it’s just really good. Perfect for a summertime bbq or gathering.

Why We Love It!

  • Easy Ingredients – Snickers salad uses simple ingredients like a package of instant pudding mix, candy bars, cool whip, and milk. Buy some fresh Granny Smith apples and Snickers candy bars and you’re good to go.
  • Snickers! – How can you not love something with chunks of Snickers throughout?
  • No matter where I take this salad, it always gets devoured. It’s an interesting side dish/salad that is different compared to the savory salads, pasta salads, and other savory sides at a bbq.

Ingredients Needed

  • Instant Pudding Mix – You can use a white chocolate mix, vanilla mix, or French vanilla mix. Typically, vanilla is traditionally used in this “salad” but any of them are delicious.
  • Whole Milk – You want to use a milk with a higher fat percentage in it so the pudding can thicken and set.
  • Granny Smith Apples – Don’t use a different apple! The Granny Smith apples are perfectly tart, crunchy, and pair perfectly with the sweet & salty bites of snickers and creamy pudding.
  • Lemon Juice – This helps the apple chunks to not brown. You need fresh lemon juice for the best results; about 1 large lemon.
  • Snickers Candy Bars – Use 18 fun-size bars for this recipe. Some will be for inside the salad while the others are for the garnish on top.
  • Cool Whip
  • Caramel Sauce – Optional garnish. I never add this but it is a garnish that works well with this “salad”.

FAQ’s + Tips For Success

  • Don’t Skip The Lemon Juice : Without the fresh lemon juice the apples will begin to brown almost immediately after cutting them.
  • Fridge Time : This salad is best served right away OR serve after it has chilled for 1-2 hours. I prefer this salad after it has had time to chill in the fridge. Be careful, because you don’t want to refrigerate it for too long or else the apples will begin to brown.
  • Wait to add any toppings or garnish (Snickers, apple chunks, caramel sauce) until right before serving. I normally just add the reserved 1/2 cup Snicker chunks before I serve it. If you want to add chopped apple on top as garnish, I suggest cutting up a few additional pieces of apple that have been tossed in lemon juice.
  • Cool Whip : If you don’t want to use a tub of store-bought Cool Whip then you can make your own. Add 1.5 cups heavy whipping cream + 1/3 cup powdered sugar into a mixing bowl and beat until stiff peaks form. Start on low speed and increase speed as needed.

Make sure to put the tub of Cool Whip in the fridge, the night before, so it can thaw and be ready to use.
