4 ingredients are all you need for this super easy & quick dinner recipe! Slow cooker Asian sesame chicken is a family pleasing meal that is loaded with lots of flavor and tender chicken. Serve over hot cooked rice and a side of veggies for an easy dinner that will be gobbled up.
I am SO excited to share this recipe with you all today! I know the blogging world is all about Thanksgiving recipes and crazy indulgent treats for the Holidays but family’s still have to eat dinner, right?! This slow cooker Asian sesame chicken is easily one of the simplest dinner recipes but you would never even know it when you taste it.
4 Ingredients only! That is my kind of meal with zero prep, no pre cooking, and something I can put in the slow cooker in the morning (when things aren’t crazy yet at the house 🙂 ) and then when it’s dinnertime everything is done!
Put some boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the slow cooker that’s been sprayed with cooking spray. In a bowl combine the onion soup packet, some Asian sesame salad dressing, and apricot preserves. Mix it up with a fork and pour over the chicken. Let it cook on low heat and then serve with some rice.
The best part of this is that it makes it’s own sauce that is sweet and salty and just delicious. Serve a piece of chicken over some rice and then drizzle some extra glaze over top. I love serving it with a side of veggies. I jut buy a microwaveable bag of mixed veggies. Super simple and no dirty dishes!
The chicken pieces need to be kept whole or otherwise they will get really dry. An alternate way is to shred the chicken right in the slow cooker and then let it cook in the juices for the remaining 30 minutes or so.
I prefer to keep the chicken pieces whole and then serve with some of the extra sauce.
I have a feeling that this chicken will be on repeat at my house. Even my oldest who claims he can’t stand rice ate about 2 plates of rice with sauce drizzled over the top. Which pretty much made my entire day because he is my picky one.
Not only is this great for dinner but the leftovers are really good in a salad the next day for lunch as well.
I just know you’ll love this! Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if wanted. I love this with green onions especially so be sure not to skip those. My kids would not eat them but my husband and I loved the flavor they added.

Slow cooker asian sesame chicken is an easy, 4 ingredient chicken recipe that's made in the slow cooker for a simple, dump & go dinner recipe.
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup asian sesame seed salad dressing (I use the Kraft brand)
- 1/3 cup apricot preserves
- 1 packet (1 oz) onion soup mix
- chopped green onions & sesame seeds, for garnish
Spray slow cooker insert with cooking spray. Lay chicken in bottom of slow cooker.
In a bowl, mix together the Asian sesame salad dressing, apricot preserves, and onion soup mix packet. Stir together with a fork and pour over the chicken in the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low heat for 5-7 hours.
Serve over cooked rice (brown or white), or quinoa. Drizzle with sauce from the slow cooker and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
The calorie count is for one chicken breasts + 1 cup white rice.
Use any brand of Asian sesame salad dressing. I normally just get the Kraft brand but my grocery store was out.
I've used light dressing and regular and both work just fine. If you're worried about sugar content use some sugar-free apricot preserves. You will find the apricot preserves by the jams and jellies.
The onion soup mix box comes with 2 packets inside. Only use one packet. Not both.
