Creamy Garlic Pasta

I have another really yummy, kid-approved dinner idea for you today. This is so easy & it can literally be on your table within 15 minutes……..

Last weekend, daylight savings, we set only our oven clock ahead one hour. So, on Sunday I am doing some things at the kitchen table and I look up at the clock on the wall and it said 4:30, and I thought to myself “oh wow, I am doing really good with time today. I still have an hour before I have to start dinner.” I was super proud of myself. An hour later, my husband comes upstairs and says to me, “what is your plan for dinner?” and I reply in my most confident voice, “I am making this creamy garlic pasta and it is super quick, it will be on the table in 15 minutes.” Then he says, “Oh that’s good because it’s almost 7.” What, 7:00! Then I remembered that we did not change the clock on the kitchen wall yet. So, needless to say, this dinner is so fast and can literally be on the table in 15 minutes 🙂

Make this for a quick & simple meatless meal. Add a fresh green salad and you have a complete dinner that is fast, yummy, and easy on the grocery budget.

Creamy Garlic Pasta

  • 1 box (1 lb) large tube pasta (penne, rigatoni, etc)
  • 3 TB butter
  • 2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk (2% works best)
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese (the stuff in the green can)
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Don't forget to salt your water, very important! I use 1 teaspoon.
  2. While pasta is cooking, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add in the flour, stirring constantly cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add in the milk and chicken broth, stirring constantly with a whisk until it thickens. This takes about 5 minutes or so.
  5. Take off the heat and add in the parmesan cheese, parsley, and salt & pepper if desired. Pour the cooked pasta into the sauce, or pour the sauce over the pasta, and stir together.
  6. Enjoy!
