Easy Boat Dip Recipe (Crowd-Pleasing Dip)
Boat dip gets its name because it’s the perfect dip for summertime! Think a pool party, on the lake, or a poolside dip. This easy dip is simple to make with ready-to-use ingredients like packets of seasoning, canned tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, and cream cheese. It is so good served chilled from the fridge so be sure and make it ahead of time for the most flavorful dip ever!
This creamy cold dip is the perfect balance of different flavors thanks to the packet of taco seasoning and ranch seasoning. Serve it alongside your favorite dippers such as pita chips, pretzel thins, tortilla chips, and crackers.
Simple Ingredients Needed For This Delicious Dip
- Cream Cheese : I highly recommend only using full-fat cream cheese in this dip recipe. It makes a huge difference in the thick texture and creamy taste of the dip.
- Sour Cream
- Taco Seasoning Packet
- Ranch Seasoning Packet
- Diced Tomatoes with Green Chiles : You can use Rotel tomatoes (which is slightly spicier) or a can of regular diced tomatoes with green chilies.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Sliced Green Onions : This is the garish for the boat dip for serving. Technically it’s optional, but it makes a big difference so I would add it!
How To Make Boat Dip (Printable Recipe Card)
In a medium mixing bowl, add the cream cheese, sour cream, taco seasoning, and ranch seasoning. Use an electric hand mixer to beat the ingredients until they are throughly combined.
Add in the can of well drained diced tomatoes with green chilies and the shredded cheese. Blend on low speed just until combined.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving, or up to overnight for even better results.
Remove the dip from the fridge and garnish with additional shredded cheese and/or green onions. Serve chilled.
How To Store Leftover Dip
Store any leftover dip in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 3-4 days. The dip is so good served chilled from the fridge so leftovers are always amazing even on day 4. Just give the dip a good stir before eating again.
Can I Make Any Changes?
- Shredded Cheese : Use your favorite variety of shredded cheese instead of the cheddar cheese – Use Pepper Jack cheese for some spice, Monterey Jack Cheese, or Colby Jack Cheese are other great options.
- Taco Seasoning : Use mild taco seasoning, regular, or a hot & spicy taco seasoning packet.
- Lighten It Up : Although I personally don’t recommend doing this, you can use reduced-fat lite cream cheese and/or lite sour cream in the boat dip recipe for a lighter option.
- Add Black Beans : Adding a can of well drained and rinsed black beans is a great addition. Give the dip more of a Mexican flavor to it!
- Add Canned Corn : Drain a can of corn (really well) and add it into the dip to make it more filling if wanted.
