No Bake Layered Cherry Delight Dessert

I am a huge fan of no bake desserts! Most no bake desserts involve some short-cut, semi-homemade ingredients that make them so easy to put together. This cherry delight is just that with its easy prep time and canned cherry pie filling.

A sweet graham cracker crust, a thick and fluffy layer of cheesecake, and then it’s finished off with cherry pie filling. Not too sweet, light & fluffy, and no bake dessert perfection!

Delight desserts are the best! Lots of layers of creamy deliciousness like this Lemon Blueberry Delight or Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake Delight.

Ingredients Needed To Make Cherry Delight

There are three layers in this cherry delight dessert. Each one is fairly simple and completely no-bake! A buttery graham cracker crust, creamy no bake cheesecake, and the “cherry on top” is the canned cherry pie filling.

Graham Cracker Crust

  • Graham Cracker Crumbs – Either crush whole graham crackers or buy a box of graham cracker crumbs from the store.
  • Butter
  • Granulated Sugar

No Bake Cheesecake Filling

  • Cream Cheese – For the best thick texture and taste I highly recommend only using full-fat cream cheese. Make sure it’s well softened to room temperate to avoid any lumps while mixing.
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Cool Whip

Cherry Layer

  • Canned Cherry Pie Filling – Easy peasy! The canned cherry pie filling is actually really delicious and it makes this dessert super simple to make.

How To Make This 3 Layer No Bake Cherry Delight Dessert (Step-by-Step Directions)

  1. Prep : Spray an 8×8 inch square baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Graham Cracker Crust : Combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar into a mixing bowl. Stir until it’s combined well and resembles wet sand. Firmly press the mixture into the prepared pan. Set aside.
  3. No Bake Cheesecake Filling : In a large mixing bowl, using an electric hand mixer, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract and beat until combined. Use a silicon spatula to gently stir in the Cool Whip until it’s mixed in thoroughly. Evenly spread the mixture on top of the graham cracker crust inside the baking pan.
  4. Cherry Topping : Spoon the cherry pie filling over top the cheesecake layer and spread it out evenly.
  5. Chill : Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a lid. Refrigerate for at least 6-8 hours before slicing and serving.

How To Store No Bake Cherry Delight

This layered cherry delight dessert needs to be stored in the fridge and served chilled from the fridge. Cover the dish with a lid or plastic wrap for easy storage.

Cherry delight should not be left out at room temperature for longer than about an hour because it will soften up. Keep the desert in the fridge and pull it out right before serving.

Can I Make Substitutions?

  • Pie Filling : Use any flavor of pie filling that you want. It won’t technically be a ‘cherry delight’ but feel free to make a blueberry delight (with blueberry pie filling), a raspberry delight (with raspberry pie filling), or even an apple delight or peach delight. Simply use the coordinating pie filling for the top layer.
  • Graham Crackers : Crush whole graham crackers for the crumbs, use the store-bought box of crushed graham cracker crumbs, or swap out the honey graham crackers for chocolate graham crackers for a chocolate crust. Chocolate and cherry pair really well together! If you are using whole graham crackers sheets for the crumbs, you will need to crush 9 whole graham crackers to get 1.5 cups of crumbs.
  • Homemade Whipped Topping : If you prefer to not use Cool Whip try making your own. Simply beat 1.5 cups heavy whipping cream + 1/4 cup powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Use this in place of the Cool Whip.

Recipe Tips

  • Cream Cheese : For the best taste and thick texture only use full-fat cream cheese when making cherry delight. The full fat will help the cheesecake layer thicken and set properly in the fridge. Also, make sure the cream cheese is well softened to avoid lumps in the batter.
  • Chill Time : This dessert needs at least 6-8 hours, but for even better results leave it in the fridge overnight (up to 12 hours) before serving.
  • Pro Tip : To make cutting through the crust easy, place hot water in the sink so that only the bottom and some of the sides of the dish are covered in the hot water. Keep it in there for about 30 seconds. Doing this helps release the graham cracker crust and makes it easier to cut through it when slicing.
  • Wax Paper : Use a piece of wax paper, or parchment paper, to press the graham cracker crust mixture into the pan. You can also use the butter stick wrapper as well.
