Easy Ground Beef Fajitas Recipe
This ground beef fajita recipe is one of my family’s favorite dinner recipes! I feel like I say that a lot, but truly, these ground beef fajitas and these Ground Turkey Tacos are always on my dinner menu because they’re easy and everyone loves them in the family.
One skillet pan is all you need to make this simple dinner idea that’s ready in just 30 minutes. Be sure and serve the fajitas alongside some favorite toppings and let everyone make their own. My family loves sour cream, avocado slices, and shredded cheese; but anything goes when it comes to toppings!
Ingredients Needed
- Lean Ground Beef : Ground chicken or ground turkey can be used in place of the one pound of ground beef.
- Chili Powder, Cumin, Paprika, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Kosher Salt, Black Pepper : These are the dried seasonings that make up the fajita seasoning mix.
- Yellow Onion : You can also use a white onion or red onion if that’s what you prefer.
- Bell Peppers : Use three different colors of bell peppers for visual interest in the recipe. Choose between green, red, orange, or yellow bell pepper.
- Olive Oil : Use a high smoke point oil, meaning one that can withstand high heat without burning, like avocado oil, olive oil, or canola oil. I use extra-virgin olive oil in this recipe.
- Water : This helps steam and soften the ground beef mixture along with the fajitas veggies.
How To Make 30 Minute Ground Beef Fajitas (One Pan Dinner Recipe)
In a small bowl, whisk together the chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt & pepper until well combined. Set aside for later.
In a large skillet pan, over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the ground beef until it’s no longer pink. Drain any excess grease. Add the fajita seasoning mix into the ground beef and cook for 1-2 minutes until combined and fragrant. Transfer the seasoned ground beef to a plate or bowl, set aside for later.
In the same skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and sliced bell peppers and cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring frequently, until the vegetables have softened to your liking and are lightly browned.
Add the ground beef back into the skillet pan along with the water. Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the water has evaporated.
Serve the ground beef fajita mixture inside soft flour tortillas with your favorite fajita toppings (sour cream, salsa, guacamole, cheese, cilantro).
How To Store Leftovers
Store any leftover beef fajita mixture inside an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 3-4 days. Reheat leftovers inside the microwave; add a touch of water if needed to moisten it back up while reheating.
Serving Suggestions For This Easy Fajita Recipe
Of course, the best thing to serve with fajitas is an assortment of your favorite toppings! Classic fajita toppings are sour cream, avocado slices or guacamole, shredded cheese, chopped cilantro, sliced jalapeño, salsa or pico de gallo, and anything else you love.
I also love to serve fajitas with a side of Easy Mexican Rice or Cilantro Lime Rice. You can also make some Homemade Salsa and serve it with some tortilla chips. My family also loves my Copycat Cafe Rio Dressing as a sauce for these fajitas.
You can serve these fajitas inside soft flour tortillas, corn tortillas (soften them in the microwave or roast them in a skillet pan), or even crunchy taco shells.
