Ingredients Needed For Taco Pizza
- Refrigerated Ready-to-Use Pizza Crust : This is the tube of pizza dough, either the Pillsbury brand or store brand, and it’s the 13.8 ounce sized tube/roll.
- Olive Oil : This helps the pizza crust brown and prevents it from sticking to the sheet pan.
- Refried Beans
- Lean Ground Beef : I use 93/7 lean ground beef.
- Taco Seasoning Packet : My family prefers the mild taco seasoning. I love the Siete brand or the Kinders brand of a packet of taco seasoning.
- Water
- Shredded Colby Jack Cheese : For the best creamy, smooth melt, and taste buy a block of Colby Jack cheese and shred it yourself.
- Taco Toppings : Shredded lettuce or chopped green leaf lettuce, chopped and seeded Roma tomatoes, sour cream, black olives, sliced jalapeños, avocado, etc. are all great choices.

How To Make Sheet Pan Taco Pizza (Printable Recipe Card)
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Brush 1 tablespoon of the olive oil into a 9×13-inch sheet pan (not a cake pan, but a sheet pan that looks like a cookie sheet).
Unroll the pizza dough and gently press it into the prepared sheet pan, stretching it carefully to the edges. Brush the remaining olive oil on the pizza crust.
In a skillet, over medium heat, cook and crumble the ground beef until it’s no longer pink. Drain the excess grease from the skillet.
Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the beef and add the water. Stir everything together and bring the mixture to a simmer/low boil. Let cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture has thickened. Take it off the heat and set it aside so it can cool slightly.

Place the refried beans into a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30-60 seconds (more as needed) until warmed and loosened.
Gently spread the warm beans over the pizza dough in an even layer, leaving a small border around the edges. Work slowly with the back of a spoon or offset spatula so the dough does not tear.
Spoon the seasoned ground beef evenly over the bean layer. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over top the ground beef.

Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the crust is golden brown at the edges and the cheese is fully melted and lightly bubbly.
Let the pizza rest for 5 minutes so the layers can set slightly.
Top with your favorite taco toppings and serve, enjoy! You can add the taco toppings on top of the entire sheet pan taco pizza, or let everyone top their own slice(s) however they want.

How To Store and Reheat Leftovers
Store leftover taco pizza slices in an airtight container, in the refrigerator, for up to 3 days. It’s best to reheat pizza slices in an air fryer, toaster oven, or the oven at 350°F for 5-10 minutes so the crust stays crisp.
If you know that there will be leftovers, I suggest letting everyone add their own fresh taco toppings, rather than topping the entire pizza with them. The fresh taco toppings won’t store as well once they’re on the pizza.

Pro Tips From The Test Kitchen
- Set the pizza dough out at room temperature for about 15 minutes before preparing. Room temperature pizza dough will be much easier to stretch to fit your pan.
- Warming up the refried beans before spreading them, prevents tearing the dough and makes it easier to spread them in an even layer. If the beans are still thicker after warming them up, add water or broth (1 teaspoon at a time) until it’s a thick consistency but more easily spreadable.
- My family loves to add some crushed Doritos as a topping – the cheesy crunch is so yummy and a nice contrast on the pizza.
- Use your favorite taco toppings – nothing is off limits here! Either add the toppings on top of the entire pizza before serving, or place the toppings in bowls and let everyone top their own slice(s) however they want. If you know you will have leftovers I recommend leaving the toppings on the side. The toppings won’t store well on top of the pizza, in the fridge as leftovers.
- Here are some ideas for taco toppings for the pizza – shredded lettuce, chopped Roma tomatoes, pico de gallo, avocado slices or chunks, guacamole, sour cream, hot sauce, sliced jalapeños, black olives, taco sauce, chopped cilantro, or try drizzling some of my famous Copycat Cafe Rio Dressing over top the pizza. My kids love that!

Substitutions & Ingredient Notes
- Refried Beans : Use your favorite can of refried beans; traditional, black bean, low-fat, vegetarian, etc. You could also use homemade refried beans; you will need about 1 cup but probably closer to 1.5 cups.
- Ground Beef : I use lean ground beef (93/7) but you could also use ground turkey or ground chicken.
- Taco Seasoning : I love the Siete brand mild taco seasoning packet. Use your favorite one such as hot & spicy, regular, cheesy, or low-sodium.
- Colby Jack Cheese : Other cheese options are Pepper Jack, Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a Fiesta Taco blend shredded cheese. I highly recommend buying a block of cheese and shredding it yourself. However, pre-shredded bagged cheese can be used if wanted.
