Turn plain French bread or Italian bread into cheesy herb Parmesan Garlic Bread with this simple side dish recipe. An easy mix of butter, garlic, parsley, parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese makes this garlic bread irresistible!

If you love using parmesan cheese in your cooking (like me!) then you must try my Parmesan Roasted Potatoes and this creamy Baked Parmesan Chicken.

Easy Cheesy Parmesan Garlic Bread Recipe

If you're wanting a great garlic bread recipe that is easy to use, then you must make this Parmesan Garlic Bread. Serving garlic bread as a side dish to any pasta meal is always a good idea. Soak up all that rich tomato spaghetti sauce and besides, you can't ever go wrong with bread + cheese!

Mix up a few easy ingredients like butter, dried seasonings, two kinds of cheese and spread it onto Italian bread or French bread. It gets toasty and browned in the oven and the cheese melts into the bread. So yummy!

    Ingredients Needed

    • Salted Butter - Make sure the butter is well softened so it mixes easier. It can even be part melted + part softened. I like to put the butter into the microwave and cook for about 15 seconds. You'll end up with some melted butter and some soft chunked butter (which is perfect).
    • Garlic Powder
    • Dried Parsley Flakes
    • Grated Parmesan Cheese - Use the cheap grated stuff from a can, container, or shaker bottle. You can also shred your own parmesan cheese from a wedge. Whatever way you prefer. The canned grated parmesan is easy and cheap and tastes good, so that's what I use.
    • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
    • Italian Bread or French Bread - I prefer using Italian bread because it's shorter and wider. French bread is longer and narrower. Either one will work just fine.

    Parmesan Garlic Bread FAQ's

    • How To Store Leftovers

      • Store any leftovers in an airtight container or Ziploc bag, at room temperature, for up to 5 days.
      • Leftovers can be eaten as is, warmed up in the microwave, or try the air fryer for a few minutes in order to get the bread fresh & crispy again.
    • Variation & Substitution Ideas

      • Cheese : Instead of mozzarella cheese try using shredded provolone cheese, pepper jack cheese for some spice, a shredded blend of Italian cheese, cheddar cheese, havarti cheese, or muenster cheese.
      • Dried Seasonings : Play around with this and use what you like. Try fresh garlic, add some Italian seasoning, basil, or oregano are other great options.
      • Bread : I prefer using a loaf of Italian bread in this recipe. It's shorter but wider, which it makes it the perfect larger vessel for all that butter and cheese. You can use any type of bread you want - try ciabatta bread, sourdough bread, crusty bakery bread, smaller rolls, crusty rolls from the bakery, French bread loaf, etc.
    • Serving Suggestions For Parmesan Garlic Bread

      • Serving garlic bread with Baked Spaghetti Casserole, this Easy Spaghetti Sauce, or try making a casserole like this Ravioli Bake or this Easy Ziti Pasta Bake. They're all great dinner ideas! I also like to add a simple tossed green salad with some sliced cucumbers and cherry tomatoes on the side. It's the perfect dinner really.
      • For a lighter carb way to serve it, try making a hearty Chopped Italian Salad to go with garlic bread. It has lots of meat in it so it's still a hearty meal without all the pasta.

    Recipe Tips

Here are a few of my helpful tips so that you can have success recreating it in your own kitchen ♥

    • Softened Butter : To avoid lumps in the butter mixture make sure that it is well softened before mixing in the other ingredients. You can even microwave the butter for about 15-20 seconds, so you end up with softened chunked butter + some melted butter (which is totally fine).
    • Shred Your Own Cheese : I always recommend buying blocks of cheese and using a cheese grater to shred them, instead of buying the bags of pre-shredded cheese. The cheese melts better and I think it tastes much better when you shred it yourself. Of course, sometimes you need it quickly, so in that case using pre-shredded cheeses is just fine.
    • Parmesan Cheese : Use whatever type you prefer. I love buying a wedge of parmesan cheese and grating it with a cheese grater. The fresh stuff tastes amazing on garlic bread. There are lots of options like the cheaper grated parmesan cheese in bottle, refrigerated shredded or grated parmesan cheese, etc. Use what you have in your fridge or use what you love.
    • Broil : If you prefer garlic bread that has those golden brown crispy edges then make sure that you broil it for a few minutes after the cook time. Watch it carefully because it all burn quickly! If your family prefers softer garlic bread then only do the cook time and skip the broil.
